Isabel Marant SS13 is due to hit the stores soon and I thought it'd be interesting to take a quick look. Not that I'll ever own any – oh no, no, no, no; way too eye-wateringly expensive... – but it's hard to ignore a designer who has so cleverly bottled that special ingredient that makes most women – all? – want to wear her designs. It's slinky but boho, glam but relaxed, with a heavy dose of cool. Are the boho studs, tan leather, feathers and cropped slim-fit trousers rocket science? Definitely not. But it is all extremely well done. And then, of course, there are the wedge sneakers, which, despite their £370 price tag and higher, are always sold out. It's incredible really, but as someone who is not a fan of wedge trainers AT ALL, even I can see that hers are leagues above any of the other designs, and while that doesn't justify the price, it is what some people will fork out for 'the best'. So I guess now is the time to let you in on a little secret. Despite my general 'against' position on wedge trainers, I did actually try a pair of Isabel Marant ones on this week and seeing them up close they are quite a beautiful pair of shoes. I didn't quite get the full experience, thank God, as the sizing comes up small and they didn't have the next size up. THANK GOD.
