Sale Purchase #3 - Sam Edelman Petty Booties in Black

My third and final sale purchase. I first noticed these Sam Edelman Petty booties on a music journalist pal who'd spent some time out in LA, in leopard print (on sale here). And then on a super cool LA blogger – in brown, black, leopard – and they've been on my mind ever since. After a quick Google sale search I found them online here at Cruise, who coincidentally I'd been writing about the day before. I snapped them up and they arrived today. Can you believe my husband neglected to mention their arrival? At least two hours passed before I discovered them nestled in their tissue paper. Different universes. (Ok, I may have been napping but I would have alerted me immediately on waking...!) Anyway, it's not that I don't have my fair share of ankle booties, some of which are my favourite shoes. But these are nearing perfection. The heel's just a little bit lower, and therefore cooler, than most. The design is just a bit more simple and streamlined with longer curves. Basically it's the kind of boot you could see yourself wearing in the middle of the desert stretching your legs while the tour bus cools down. Not that I really like tour buses – from my limited experience they're pretty awful – but, you know, the carefree come-what-may rock n' roll attitude is what I'm reaching for here. I hope you like the photos. Next on my wish list are snow leopard and tan...

Obsessing Over Oversized Knits in the Cruise Sale

| Wildfox stars ( Gestuz ( St Martins ( Boss Orange (not in sale) Wildfox coral knit (also in grey here) Forever Unique ( |
Ever since my Boxing Day sale decision to buy a plain black cashmere in XL, my obsession with oversized knits has been growing at a frightening rate. Manifesting itself in an exciting sale purchase yesterday – outfit post to come, I promise – to be followed by another today after a browse through Cruise's sale. Were money no object I'd go for the starry Wildfox – I've loved this star knit quite hard for nearly half a year now (FOREVER in fashion) but my sensible self has won out with the gorgeous Gestuz in dusty pink (top right – down to £30! I'm just waiting to hear back if they have it in a size 12...) In case you haven't come across Cruise before, let me tell you, this is the shop where many of my fashion fantasies were born. The white-fronted Edinburgh boutique often saw my teenage self loitering around the rails, drinking up the over-the-top fashion and out-of-reach prices. These days the prices actually look pretty good. With a handful of boutiques dotted around the country (but not London) you can buy online here. You'll find all the above knits in the Mainline collection.

Instagramming a Five-Minute Catch-Up

I've got a whole load of posts to prepare for the next few days but I'm a bit bleary-eyed and short on time. So, in true fashion blogger fashion ;) here is a quick catch-up on the last 24 hours. What's more, I've managed to do this entire post from bed on the iPad using a combination of apps (Diptic, Photoshop Touch and Blogger).
1. Yesterday's first snow shot, little birdy feet that look like an aeroplane flight path.
2. A totally impulsive, but so delighted, sale purchase in Islington's Diverse boutique. I've been lusting after Sophie Hulme's designs for near on a year, so with more than 50% off and it was the last one... I couldn't resist. This Plate Satchel looks amazing worn cross-body. Outfit post to come, natch. (In blue – new season or just not in sale? – here. Will do some more sale research...)
3. Hauling out the old Moonboots (available from New Look) for some serious snow and cold protection. I don't care how many weird looks I get on the tube, and from my dentist. They rock.
4. My first ever nail art efforts. I think I might finally get it. (These are Nail Art Nail Tattoos.)

Net-a-Porter's sale continues, now with up to 70% off. I had a quick trawl this morning under a cloud of sales anxiety – things get snapped up SO quickly. My heart's beating too fast just at the thought of it, already a gorgeous pair of K Jacques sandals in black have disappeared from the sale page. Gulp. Anyway, here's my edit. For me, sales are all about smart shopping, picking out those pieces you know are going to stand the test of time. I'm talking luxe tees, denim staples, chunky knits and forever flats and bags. Good luck! And if you snap anything up be sure to let me know. I'm weighing up between a couple of Kain tees or the aforementioned K Jacques gladiators, in orange.
