Happy Easter - 52 - Weekly Portrait Challenge - Anyone, Anywhere - #1 Posted by Unknown |

I love the idea of a weekly portrait – the challenge, the results, the consistency. You can't help but learn along the way. And I want to keep the standards high. The challenge part is that I find doing anything on a regular basis difficult, I always wander off topic. The idea is that in the true vein of ego-blogging, the photos will be mainly self portraits, but occasionally I may take advantage of the little one (of whom I take a ridiculous amount of snaps), the extremely reluctant husband or a friend. So basically like the 52 Project but with wider criteria. So this is my first. Do you do a regular portrait? If so, leave me a link in the comments below, I'll be sure to come and check it out. Where I Blog {My Desk Space} Posted by Unknown |

This week the ladies over at Independent Fashion Bloggers were asking their readers to post about where they blogged (IFB Project #85). Essentially a peek into people's office/desk space. Anyway, although I missed the deadline to submit my post I thought it was a lovely idea and took these snaps. Although the reality is I blog in various spots – the kitchen table, the sofa, bed – I do actually have an official desk space which has been recently reclaimed from being the downstairs changing table and it's nice to have it back. Just a plain and unvarnished Ikea table, but with lots of surface space. And on the few occasions during the day I get a few minutes to myself, this is where I'll come and blog. Like I am just now. Heaven. :)

Update! Turns out I wasn't too late to submit my entry after all and it was included in the IFB Project #85 round-up of inspiring places to blog. Super pleased as they also featured my photo at the top of the piece – thankyou IFB, so glad you liked it!

Fashion Bloggers' Delight aka My Macaron Migraine Posted by Unknown |

If you read enough fashion blogs you'll have noticed the obsession with what I'm guessing, thank God, can rightly be called the new cupcake (never got the cupcake thing). Oh-so-pretty French macarons with whipped egg whites and ground almonds. To be honest, as a dedicated eater of dark chocolate and rhubarb crumble, I hadn't really bought into this new patisserie favourite, but hey, live a little right? And the fifty odd or so flavours looked so pretty lined up in their cabinet. Did you know that some are alcoholic? Spot the light pink champagne one in the corner – decadent or what. Needless to say, they are scrummy, the nutty filling and meringue-like sandwiching both chockful of sugar. Lots of sugar. I am now suffering a serious sugar-induced macaron migraine. But I did manage to take these pics before scoffing them all, which is the other reason I imagine fashion bloggers love them so – they take as good a picture as they taste. Is that even a sentence? I need to go and lie down. Again. You've been warned. (These came from L'orchidée in Westfield Stratford; from what I understand the best to be had are from Laudrée.)

Some more of my snaps from Somerset House, this time candid ones while 'doing the lap' a few times over around the buzzing courtyard. Things to note, 1. new trend the neon beanie is already dividing opinion in the Twittersphere 2. snazzy pink & orange brogues with matching socks and denim is a winner 3. ideally have your photographer blog partner/real life partner/brother tailing you for the perfect street style snap 4. music and fashion do mix good – scratch beneath the fashion surface and you'll find a plethora of DJ/producers 5. cute photographers in cute sneakers are a sight for sore eyes 6. why do fashionistas love cutesy iPhone cases so much?

Here we have some of my favourite street style snaps from LFW Day 1. It was great fun taking them and it's so lovely to see that even in the fashion world a smile still goes a long way. Above is Andy Torres from Style Scrapbook – you may have seen her in the current Canon campaign. I love her slightly 60s monochrome look topped off with a neon beanie (trend alert: there were quite a few neon beanies floating around Somerset House). And below is Olivia Purvis from What Olivia Did. Olivia quite unwittingly created a photo scrum for a good 10 minutes about which she was very sweet.
