Beautiful iPhone cases by Swash Posted by Unknown |
28.9.12
I have been investigating iPhone cases. I finally made the move from Blackberry and am now wondering what took me so long especially given how good the camera is (no, after quite a bit of agonising I didn't fork out the extra for the iPhone 5 – the 4s seems to be able to do everything the 5 can once you've installed iOS6). But enough geek chat, much more important are these gorgeous iPhone cases from London based design duo Swash (Sarah Swash & Toshio Yamanaka). Do check out their website, it's a real treat – one of the best I've seen. Cases stocked at Net-a-Porter.

New Skincare Find - laidbare Posted by Unknown |
22.9.12
Really pleased to discover skincare brand Laidbare on a random trip to Wholefoods. So amazingly priced and minus the so-called nasties – no petrochemicals, sulphates, parabens, synthetic fragrance and colours and animal testing among others. So far, so good, I'm really enjoying using both the Working 9 To 5 face cream (£7.99) and DIY! Two in One face cleanser and toner (£5.99). At such good prices am tempted to go back for more of the range.

What Is She Wearing?! Ania Bieluszko Posted by Unknown |
17.9.12
I had great fun shooting visual artist, photographer and filmmaker Ania Bieluszko last week. Originally from Poland, Ania now lives in Dalston. She wears a long-sleeved top from Eastbourne Lammas festival, t-shirt beneath from a charity shop in Surbiton, apron skirt made by a friend's brother, jeans from Gap, socks from Uniqlo and boots from New Look. The necklace, made from an old silver spoon, was a present, from Camden market.
If you're looking for a photographer or filmmaker for an event, contact Ania here. She comes highly recommended! Photography: http://annabiel.wordpress.com Videos:http://anoushkavideos.tumblr.com Creative films & collaborations: http://anoushka-magdushka.tumblr.com

LFW - FelderFelder SS13 Posted by Unknown |
16.9.12
As promised, my favourite looks from FelderFelder SS13. Love how the twins Annette and Dani have gone for a softer feel with this collection. The trademark black is still there, but this is a more sophisticated rock chick and less confrontational than previous collections. Also there's something about the mauve lavender blue they've used that gets me just there, and the v-dip neckline is just gorgeous. Awesome that they've included statement swimwear. Shoes by Kat Maconie and hair by Adam Reed (inspired by a 70s Cher apparently) was freed of flyaway strands with a Dr Harris bone toothbrush much to Twitter's delight. And love the oyster pink dip-dye, such a cool look.

London Fashion Week SS13 Kicks Off - Live Streaming Too Posted by Unknown |
14.9.12
I'm a big fan of fashion week live streaming. There are quite a few places you can see London Fashion Week online – I just watched Felder Felder SS13 (sheer, diaphanous, ruffly and very beautiful since you ask; will post my favourite looks once they're available) with Kate Nash giving a live performance here on ldnfashion.com. The next live stream show I'm really looking forward to is Topshop Unique bringing to us all sorts of LFW firsts – via the live stream on topshop.com you'll be able to customise, shoot, post and buy the looks (the clothes will be with you three months before they arrive in store and the make-up straightaway!). Sunday 3pm. Topshop will also be streaming the rest of the shows taking place at the Topshop Showspace including Mary Katrantzou (Sunday 7pm), Peter Pilotto (Monday 9am) and Louise Gray (Monday 3pm).

Fashion & Technology: DvF Through Google Glasses Posted by Unknown |
13.9.12
I do love technology and I would love a pair of Google Glasses. No doubt about it. This is the first time a video – the glasses are worn by Diane von Furstenberg for her SS13 fashion show – has been shot entirely through 'Glass.' Project Glass they call it. According to Mashable, "The augmented reality-enhanced glasses have many smartphone-like functions: users can take pictures, record video, receive messages and check calendars, among other things." Super want.

Marc By Marc Jacobs SS13 - Socks & Sandals, Scarves, Bangles and Bags Posted by Unknown |
13.9.12
I just can't tear myself away from all the amazing colours and accessory styling in the Marc By Marc Jacobs SS13 collection. The bright contrasting patterns serving up scarves as headwear and waistwear, the perfect affinity of wedge sandals with thick socks (where in the world is this a doable, workable look other than on the catwalk and at home in front of the mirror?), the pile up of chunky ethnic bangles and of course, the handbags, something he does ever, ever so well.
Boy By Band of Outsiders SS13 Posted by Unknown |
10.9.12
Utterly utterly blown away by the SS13 collection from LA's Boy By Band of Outsiders. Beautiful flowing pieces, Japanese design influence (the label's biggest market is Tokyo), a bit of a military edge (inspired by The Hunger Games, not a favourite film of designer Scott Sternway but inspiring in how movies "...make war into a light, beautiful thing" which of course it's not, but this is fashion) and – dare I say it, in the current mood of Anna dello Russo's “Fashion is always uncomfortable, when you feel comfortable, you never get the look," as she sings in her Fashion Shower video for H&M (something which I will always disagree with because I just cannot function if I'm not comfortable – wow, it feels like a dirty word!) – totally wearable. (Nice to see this sentiment also expressed in the comments section of The Sartorialist's post.) I want practically every single look in my wardrobe right now. The strapless jumpsuits, the one-shouldered midi dresses, the bright bandeaus, the shibori-dyed wrap skirts and baggy trousers. As far as personal style inspiration goes this fashion month, I think I've already found it. See the full collection on style.com

Pringle Of Scotland 2012 Women's Pre-Fall Collection Posted by Unknown |
7.9.12
As the fashion week maelstrom picks up pace, spare a little time for and take a little inspiration from the current season collections hitting the stores - in particular the women's pre-fall collection from Pringle of Scotland. So fresh and sharp. Love the layering of knits over dresses and bold palette of burgundy, burnt orange and greens. And the nipped in waist with long looped-under leather belt is such a great styling tip.

Getting Back to Film With A Canonet QL17 Compact Rangefinder Posted by Unknown |
6.9.12
To my shame this beautiful 1970s Canonet QL17 compact rangefinder by Canon has been sitting in a drawer for almost a year now. In a fit of 'I must learn how to properly use a film camera' (that I can't is quite embarrassing; but a rather unsuccessful stint with a mini Diana convinced me of my ineptitude) I sought for and purchased this model on eBay. It's quite heavy (for me) but has a wonderful rangefinder view where you line up two images to focus. The aperture at its widest is 1.7 and hopefully with this should produce some lovely looking photos if I can work things ok with light. Anyway, I'm going to load it up with some black and white film and make sure I use it then develop the pictures and try not to get too discouraged. I think in the end I will always love digital more – the immediate results, the delete button and the instant gratification of uploading and sharing. But some beautiful film shots by a friend have convinced me it's time to try again. What about you? Do you prefer film or digital? Have you had good results with a film camera? What model do you use? I'd love to know your experiences!
