The fourth and final part of my How To Wear A Denim Skirt series – see Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. I really have tried doing the collar buttoned right up to the top, but it just doesn't work on me. Neck probably too short, I'm thinking. Luckily this cafe latte coloured silk blouse from Topshop (long sleeved black version here) has a second button pretty close to the top so I think I'm still managing the preppy hipster vibe. Sort of. Anyway, the skirt you've seen before, part of the fabulous Riyka SS13 collection and the delicious mint coloured brogues are Hudson. Earrings (recently spotted on Kimberly from Girls Aloud) and rings by my favourite Brick Lane jewellery boutique Comfort Station. I've also included some close-ups in this post. Hope you like them, I totally meant to do this before.

Look number 2 from my How To Wear a Denim Skirt series. This is the most mini of a skirt I've probably worn in a very long time and, overall, not a look I would have thought I'd enjoy. But the cropped jumper sits just right (well, when you can it see above the gathered waist band) and I love how the crimson knitted patches are echoed by the leather panels on the skirt. Also the Victorian style lace-up ankle boots are the kind I've always seen on friends but never thought to try myself – actually, I think they are extremely cool and are definitely a look I would like to explore further. The necklace is the exact same one as you saw in Part 1 of this series and has grown on me to such an extent I am hankering after it for Christmas. Come on, Santa!

When was the last time you wore a denim skirt? Me, I can't even remember. Sometime back when I was a teenager trying to figure out who I was. I love the starch feel of this dark heavy denim skirt with a leather waist panel around the back. Take a denim skirt and use it as a canvas. Everything looks good paired with jean, so experiment with colour and shoes. In this case a pair of natty brogues and colour-popping mohair knit. And with flats and a relaxed top why not mix things up with a heavy gold chain necklace and chunky silver ring? I'm also wearing a beautiful pair of gold earrings, also by Comfort Station, but you can't really see them in these shots. Fear not, they will be featured once again in a forthcoming post.
